Dr. Arunkumar Arasappa, [34] MRCS [Edinburgh] M Ch is a cardio vascular thoracic surgeon. He is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Madras Medical College, Chennai, India.
Testimonies to the academic prowess of Dr Arunkumar Arasappa are the awards and appreciations he had gathered while at school and college. He sailed through LKG to 5th standard under Merit Scholarship at Bains School, Anna Nagar. Distinctions and prizes awaited him between 6th to 12thStandard. He was the school topper and the best outgoing student of 1995 batch at Madras Medical College. His stint in undergraduation and postgraduation at Madras Medical College was punctuated with distinctions in examinations. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2006 and a Cardiothoracic Surgeon in 2010.
Since then he has proved himself as a budding, skilful surgeon with growing consideration for his fellow beings. He is at present actively involved in performing cardiac surgeries like valve replacement and repair, congenital heart surgeries including repair and coronary surgeries.
He has also performed thoracic surgeries like thymectomy, mediastinal mass resections in newborns, children and adults. Oesophagectomies, lobectomies and pneumonectomies are a few of the surgeries he has performed.
He has presented several Papers in National and International Conferences. He has honed his skills by participation with surgeons from Chicago and Boston under International Children Heart Foundation.
He passionately believes that life becomes more meaningful by serving the cause of the less affluent.
